Bagua Colors and 5 elements
8-08 ISC WEBSITE JULY FS ARTICLE/ FENG SHUI EYES

Greetings and Welcome to Feng Shui Eyes where every month a different feng shui topic is discussed along with quick & easy feng shui tips (QTs) to help enhance health, wealth, romance and prosperity! This month’s topic - “The Bagua Colors and the 5 Elements” and QTs for “Enhancing and Employing Color and Elements!”

From previous articles, we have learned that the feng shui map is called a ba’gua (8-sided template – see attached file) and is used to determine the various life locations within a space (home/business etc). Each life location has a name and a color and we learned that the Wealth & Prosperity Corner and the Love and Relationship corner are referred to as the Power Corners of the space (home/office etc.) To help enhance and active the energies of each life location you can use objects related to that particular area of life and the color that is associated with that area of life. There are 5 Areas of Life that can also be represented by their element.

The 9 Areas of Life, their corresponding color and element are as follows:
AREA OF LIFE COLOR ELEMENT
Career & Business (Life Path Black Water
Skill & Knowledge (Wisdom) Blue
Family & Maintenance Money (Past) Green Wood
Wealth & Prosperity (Abundance) Purple
Fame & Reputation (Ethics) Red Fire
Marriage & Relationships (Love) Pink
Children & Creativity (Future) White Metal
Helpful People, Benefactors, Travel, Angelic Realm Gray
Health Yellow Earth

The Water element is represented by such reflective surfaces as glass, cut crystal and mirrors and any free-form or undulating forms and by actual water like a water fountain or pictures of water: i.e. streams, rivers, pools, waterfalls. The color Black and dark tones like charcoal gray or midnight blue represent water as well.

The Wood element is represented by all wooden furniture and accessories, wooden paneling, siding, roofing and decks; all indoor and outdoor plants and flowers including silk, plastic and dried; all types of plant-based cloth and textiles, floral print upholstery, wall coverings, draperies and linens; and, art that depicts landscapes, gardens, plants and flowers. Wood element is also expressed in rectangular and columnar-shaped items like trees, beams, pedestals, poles and stripes. The color Green and the blue spectrum hues also represent wood.

The Fire element is represented by all lighting including electrical, oil, candles, natural sunlight and fireplaces as well as artwork that depicts sunshine, light or fire. Pets and wildlife also represent the Fire element as well as things made from animals such as: fur, leather, bone, feathers and wool. The Fire element is found in shapes that are pointed like triangles, pyramids and cones. The color Red and all its’ spectrum represent fire.

The Earth element is represented by ceramic tiles and earthenware objects as well as adobe and brick and actual earth like potting soil. Shapes such as squares, rectangles and long flat surfaces are also earth elements as well as artwork of earthy landscapes and fields for example. The color Yellow and ALL earth tone colors represent earth.

The Metal element is represented by all types of metal: stainless steel, copper, brass, iron, silver, aluminum, chrome, tin and gold. All rocks and stones such as marble, granite and flagstone, natural crystal, and gemstones are metal elements. Art and sculpture made from metal or stones and well as shapes of circles, ovals and arches are metal representations. The color White and light pastel spectrum of colors represent metal.

The best way to use these five elements and the nine colors is to place them in their appropriate areas of the home/office intending for these elements and colors to help bring harmony into your immediate environment.
