The 3 Pillars of Feng Shui
6-08 ISC WEBSITE JUNE FS ARTICLE/ FENG SHUI EYES

Greetings and Welcome to Feng Shui Eyes where every month a different feng shui topic is discussed along with quick & easy feng shui tips (QTs) to help enhance health, wealth, romance and prosperity! This month’s topic - “The 3 Pillars” and QTs for “Activating and Enhancing the 3 Pillars of Your Home!”

Just as pillars are supports for structures, The 3 Pillars in Feng Shui refer to the triangle of support found in your home and are directly related to your wealth and health. The three most vital parts of any home are: the Front door (entryway); the Stove (kitchen) and the Master Bed (your bedroom). According to David Daniel Kennedy in his book, “Feng Shui for Dummies”, he tells us that… “If you have Feng Shui issues in just one of these three areas, multiple life problems can result…….” The front door and stove are directly related to and affects your money, wealth, prosperity, people, health and so on, while the master bed is directly related to and affects your health, rest, relationships and even your ability to obtain and sustain financial success.

We’ve talked little bit about the front door/entryway to home in the last article on “Conquering Clutter” as being the Mouth of the Chi (life-force energy) and is the chief entry point for your home’s energy. As the chi is formal and will always enter the space through the door the architect designated as the front door, the pathway needs to be clear and pleasing. The condition of the front door tells a great deal about your life and sets the tone for the Feng Shui of your entire home. Therefore, the front door needs to be clean, sparkling and in good repair. The front door also needs to swing in to the widest part of the room or entryway. If the door swings out – it is blocking the FULL flow of opportunity, good fortune and wealth from entering the home (this also applies to all the doors and doorways of each room of the home). If the front door directly faces a backdoor or a sliding glass door, the “money comes into the home quickly only to flow quickly out of the home again.” If the front door can not open all the way due to storage or clutter, again you are blocking and significantly reducing the flow of good into your home and life. So doors and doorways determine how much life force chi will enter into the space.

The stove is very much directly related to your wealth and prosperity so much so that the Chinese believe that “it is a wealthy man who can feed his family!” The stove is also directly related to money. All the burners on the stove need to be in good working order and the stove needs to be kept spotless! The cook needs to have a good view of the door or entryway into the kitchen. If the cook’s back is to the door it can affect the health of the family. If the stove is on the Fame section of the kitchen there can be tendencies for fires. (see future articles on Elements) The kitchen itself also needs to be well-organized, neat, clean and clutter-free especially the countertops. Keep only those items you use daily out on the countertops and store the rest in cupboards and drawers (especially knives as they can denote conflicts and arguments - “sharp spoken words” -when visual.)

The Master bed is directly related to good health and healthy relationships of all kinds. Bedrooms are used for two things: sleep (rest & rejuvenation for maximum health) and love-making. Many bedrooms have become home gyms, home work stations and TV entertainment centers. These are all ACTIVE yang energies in a space devoted to yin restorative NON-ACTIVE energies that our bodies need while we sleep and is imperative to any healing process that we may be experiencing. Your sleeping position (bed placement in the room) and the quality of your rest impact your ability to acquire money. Feng Shui tells us that 90% of what is closest to us has the most impact on us! Your bedroom is also your love and relationship area of life regardless of which area of life your bedroom falls into on the bagua template. What does your bedroom say to you? Is it pleasing to the senses with beautiful linens, bedspreads, textures, rugs, candles, scents, oil? Is it clutter-free, inviting and relaxing? Does it speak of romance and love? Or business, activity, singleness, or drabness?

The location of your bed in the room also has a direct bearing on your health and the health of your relationships. The most powerful bed position is where the headboard (one that is secure and stable not wobbly) is on a solid wall and there is a full view of the door WITHOUT being directly in front of the door. The most unfavorable position is where the foot of the bed is directly in-line with the bedroom door. The simple cure is to move the bed away from the doorway immediately. If this is not possible, you will need to place an octagon mirror at the foot of the bed – mirror side facing the door – programming the mirror to “hold back/block door from hitting the bed.” Also hang a 40-50 mm round faceted crystal ball on 9” red string from the ceiling over the center of the bed to circulate the chi. If you’re not sure how to do this, contact a feng shui consultant. (more on beds in future articles on Romance)

With these Feng Shui 3 Pillars as supports for the home, it is very important that these areas of the home are in the best “shape” feng shui-wise as possible for they have a major impact on the balance of the home and our lives.

JUNE’s QTs: “Activating the and Enhancing the 3 Pillars of Your Home!”
1. To enhance good fortune, make sure there is a clear and pleasing path to the front door – no weeds (!!), plants are healthy and striving, remove any dead plants and replant with healthy ones!
2. If the front door swings OUT - change the hinges on the door so that the door opens inward and into the widest part of the space!
3. Remove storage and clutter from doorway and behind doors!
4. If there is a “front door/back door” issue–
a. place a large leafy plant or tree between the front door and back door to block the flow of money chi from leaving the house,
b. hang a 40 – 50 mm round facet crystal ball on 9” red string from the ceiling midway between the front door and the back door to circulate the prosperity/money chi and keep it flowing throughout the home (and not out the back door)
5. Place a table water fountain inside the Front door. Place the water fountain in such a way that the water flows INTO the home, symbolizing money flowing into the home!
6. To active the flow of money, once a week, fire up all the burners on the kitchen stove, while visualizing money flowing into the home from all sources!
7. Place a shiny metal teapot on the upper left-hand corner (wealth & prosperity corner) of your stove so that ALL burners are reflected in it – thus doubling your money and prosperity!
8. Keep a bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen table to symbolize prosperity and abundance!
9. Place a mirror on the stove back wall so cook can see the door if back is to the doorway!
10. Remove all workout equipment, computers, TVs from the bedroom.
11. To enhance love and relationship use sensuous linens, fabrics and candles. Place objects in multiples of 2’s – 2 pillows, 2 candles, 2 hearts, etc.
12. To enhance equality in a relationship, place identical end tables and lamps on either side of the bed.

Until next time – May you always “see” with Feng Shui Eyes!
